glucose tolerance testing

the doctor's office called today and said that the 1 hour glucose tolerance test that i took last week tested high and that they want me to take the 3 hour test. so tomorrow morning at 8:30am i will be taking a 3 hour test at the doctor's office. i am not really sure what they will do if i test high during this one. i guess it means i have gestational diabetes ~ but i am not sure what that will mean in terms of diet changes, etc. at first the doctors were saying it would not be a concern because of having triplets and not having to worry about having too large of babies. but now it sounds like they are concerned that if i am "spilling sugar" in my urine (that's what they called it) that the babies might be born with low sugar and have the potential to have breathing problems. so anyway, that is the latest. it will probably take a couple days to get the results back on the testing. we will keep you all posted. as always, we appreciate your prayers!

I'm sorry to hear this. I will keep you and the babies in my thoughts and prayers. Please let us know if you need anything-- housework, etc done still.

My best friend just had twins in February and her glucose test came back positive, too...so she fought with gestational diabetes until delivery (and now is fine). She was a Nazi about testing and really watched what she ate. They'll give you a whole packet of things that are good, not good, yadda yadda yadda. It just means Thad will be making some fabulous, healthy, low sugar meals for the 5 of you! That can't be all bad!

I had to take the 3 (4) hr test as well. It takes forever! I passed, but a friend of mine who had triplets did not. She had gestational diabeties, but the kids did fine. She went to 36 &1/2 weeks too (all at home!). The kids were HUGE! All 5 & 6 lbs! She couldn't have a scheduled C-section at 36 weeks like normal though, because their lungs weren't quite developed yet. Don't worry, it will work out.
